Preventing Eye Injuries

More than one million people suffer from eye injuries each year, and most of those injuries could have been prevented by wearing appropriate protective eyewear.

This morning Dr. Gina Wesley told us how many ordinary activities like mowing the lawn, jump-starting vehicles, or using household chemicals for cleaning can lead to very serious eye injuries.

The eye's delicate tissues are easily burnt by chemicals in detergents and ammonia, and lawn equipment can easily propel debris. Prevention is the first and most important step in avoiding serious eye injuries, so be sure to always protect your eyes with appropriate protective eyewear.
